The Havanese is the national dog of Cuba and part of the Bichon family of dogs.

Havanese are sturdy small toy dogs who carry their tails over their backs and have long droopy ears. The coat is silky, long and comes in many colours.

They also have a big spirit, are smart and are very curious as dogs. They have a playful disposition and can usually be easily trained well if started properly in puppyhood.

They are above all social dogs, need and enjoy the company of people. They do not like being left alone for any length of time.

The Havenese often have a good long life up to 16 years and do not have as many health issues as other dogs might.
