The Drentse Patrijshond is a Dutch dog from the northern province of Drenthe in the Netherlands aka Holland. The literal translation of the name appears to be the Partridge dog from Drenthe.

The dog is used primarily for hunting wild fowl and is at home running across fields or getting wet in the marshes. It is a useful dog as it can act as a pointer and retriever both at the same time.

The Drentse Patrijshond is considered to have a good temperament, is loyal and a good family dog. It is an active dog so needs lots of exercise to keep it happy.
